About stress 4

Stress first reveals itself as anxiety. This in turn causes multiple bodily symptoms as stress may cause the organism to go to a state of ultimate readiness. We are ready to act – fight or flee.

Your pulse heightens, muscles become tense, general agitation grows, feet-legs become sweaty. In a state of constant stress, your digestive system also suffers, because you are in a constant situation of fighting and the digestive system is not as important. All of your brain power is spent on supporting fighting behaviour. Being in a state of high stress means that you are not able to reason as you’d normally reason and thus, one makes better and more sensible decisions when feeling in peace. Anxiety is a normal and necessary reaction in certain situations, this is necessary to ensure an efficient way of regaining control.

It is important to face the stress-inducing situation and to solve it, otherwise you will avoid similar situations in the future and will feel on edge due to it.

It is also important to manage your emotions and feelings, to keep a positive state of mind. In case you feel scared and angry, everything around you will feel the same.

It is not possible to change the surrounding world, but it is possible to change your own behaviour.
